Some love it, others hate it, but regardless of this, over the next few days and weeks some houses and shopfronts (physical and online) will be adorned with ghoulish ghosts, spooky specters, deviant demons and plump pumpkins with orange grins. Halloween is almost upon us and after 2 years of caution and social distancing, this year is promising to be an extra special one.
With this in mind, we’re here to make sure you’re well equipped for the upcoming festivities using our awesome search feature. We’ve listed a number of items from local online shops that we were able to find by searching on MVM, and that we thought would be great to share.
Obviously, if you want to just browse through and have a look at some shops that are sure to have something interesting this Halloween, you’re most likely to find something on our Novelty and Fancy Dress category pages. In addition to that, what’s any occasion without some delicious treats from our Food and Beverages category pages, or better yet, get a professional from our Outside Catering category to sort the treats out for you.
Looking the Part
What’s Halloween without a scary costume? A boring Monday, that’s what!
With a vast collection of costumes at discounted prices, Party Time is sure to have a costume for you. My personal favourite has to be the Zombie Rocker costume, but I guess that just shows my taste in music.
If, on the other hand, you’re looking for something a bit more feminine, then my pick would be the Wicked Witch costume for that hit of Oz nostalgia.
Looking for something for the little ones? How about the Werewolf Baby Costume for a touch of cuteness to your day.
Babies should be entitled to join in the fun too and Mothercare have a range of products on sale for Halloween, including this Halloween Pumpkin All In One.
Activities for the Kids
Although Halloween is usually associated solely with trick or treating for the kids and parties for the adults, it shouldn’t solely be limited to those two activities. Those with young children know that it’s important to keep them stimulated for both their personal development and your sanity as a parent. That’s why it’s a great idea to use Halloween as another theme for your household activities.
The Happy Play Company from A Bird with a French Fry have a free printable Cootie Catcher for Halloween 2022, which could be used as a fun and free activity to do with your kids. If you’re looking to add to that, they also have Craft Kits where kids can use playdough to create all their favourite Halloween decorations.
If you’re looking for something with a Halloween theme that can also be used for every other day, why not check out the Halloween collection of items from the outdoor kid. If I had to choose one thing for my daughter it would probably be the Magna Face – Monsters play set. It’s mess free and helps in describing emotions to your little ones.
I wasn’t aware there was such a thing, but the people behind Mon Eclat have put a spin on standard jewellery that has a Halloween based theme. Great marketing here!
My personal favourite is the creepy yet pretty Iconic ring-like-looking-item. It’s a cool piece with a very Halloweeny feel to it.
Time for Decorations
The recipe to a great party is plenty of delicious food and drink, pumping music, and amazing company, but a Halloween party is not complete without some eye-popping decorations. The people at Creative Glams have some cool illuminated glass blocks that are a perfect yet subtle way to dress up the place. My choice of block would have to be the Monster Halloween Glass Block, but there are a few options to choose from. If you’d like, you could even create your own.
In addition to the decorated glass block, you could also go for the Singing and Dancing Tree with Light Up Eyes from The Candle Haven. As they put it on their site, “This spooky tree will sing and turn to give some Halloween entertainment to your home.”
So, there you have it! A guide to get you fully equipped for Halloween 2022, and all from the comfort of your own home while supporting local businesses. That’s what we’re all about here at MVM, connecting people like you with great local online shops.
