Christmas 2020 Advent Calendar Day 21 – WJA Distributors

Categories: DIY, Household Goods

ATTENTION! I know this blog is about Christmas gifts… and tools and other DIY items might not seem too Christmassy to you, but there’s good reason why I’ve picked WJA Distributors as a good option to offer Christmas Gift ideas.

If you don’t know much about DIY, you might think that giving a power tool to a person who does some DIY is a bit like giving a shiny new broom to a housewife. This couldn’t be further from the truth. While a housewife might be insulted with a broom (and rightfully so), someone who does some DIY either for enjoyment or out of necessity will really appreciate good tools. This is because having the right tool makes every job so much easier; saving time and getting a better rate of success on each project.

Bosch GLM30 Laser Measure

XMAS Advent - WJA Distributors #1

Price: €99

These little gadgets are too cool. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been working alone on some DIY project and have been frustrated by a measuring tape while doing something as simple as measuring the distance between two points. If I had one of these laser measures in my life, it would make so many things much easier!

It’s not cheap, but it’s a tool that will last a long time and will save lots of time when it comes to measuring – which is part of practically every DIY project!

Yato 22pc Socket Set

XMAS Advent - WJA Distributors #2

Price: €49.90

When I saw this, I thought it would make a perfect present for someone who just bought a home and who’s a bit hand’s on in maintaining their own home. Most of the time, you can just use a spanner, but having the right tool for the job is key in making DIY jobs more fulfilling and successful.

A socket set is for life, so there will be countless time that people will come to need it down the line.

Bosch Wireless Orbital Sander

XMAS Advent - WJA Distributors #3

Price: €106.14

I speak from experience when I say that this tool is a godsend. Whether I’m sanding wood or stone, I’ve found that sanding is rarely a 5-minute job. Since I got one of these orbital sanders, I now consider it a ‘must-have’ part of my tool set.

In this case, we’re not so much talking about a tool that will save you time, but rather it’s a tool that will save on energy because it makes the job easier and it will also give better results because it’s easier to regulate pressure when you’re not getting tired.

Look out for wired options if you want to avoid batteries – which would be a good idea if you’re buying this for someone who would use it for many hours at a time.

Bosch Cordless Drill PSB 1800 Li 2

XMAS Advent - WJA Distributors #4

Price: €160

This is what I like to call a luxury tool. If you have a wired drill and you have a set of screw drivers, then no one really needs this. But when you need to drill a couple of quick holes; the idea of going to the tool room and moving everything out of the way to get out your heavy wired drill seems like too big a task. Then you need to get an extension and set everything up – just to drill a couple of holes and then put everything back neatly. Having a handy cordless drill like this can save lots of time but more than that, it will save on hassle and will make it easier to get off the sofa to handle quick DIY jobs.

Another great thing about this tool is that when you’ve got a job that involves lots of tightening / loosening of screws, this tool can significantly speed up the job!

Bosch GKS18V Li 18 Volt Li-ion Cordless Circular Saw

XMAS Advent - WJA Distributors #5

Price: €599

This might not be a gift for everyone. It’s a bit more on the expensive side and it’s mainly for cutting wood – limiting its use. I’ve been quite into my woodwork this year and I was lucky enough to be able to borrow one. That being said, this is an essential tool for anyone who is going to be working with wood for any prolonged period!

Carpentry is a beautiful craft and extremely fulfilling. If you have a loved one who’s taking an interest in woodwork, then this is a great gift.

I also chose this gift because it’s cordless. When working with a saw like this, the last thing you need is a wire hanging in the way, so this is a great tool. However, if you’re buying for someone who would use this for long hours, I would still recommend going for the wired option.
